The Mayan Ruins Did Anything But Ruin My Trip To Cancun

    written by

    By Caroline B.

My family and I went to Cancún, Mexico.

My favorite part of my trip was snorkeling in natural caves made of limestone that have been preserved for many years. We were able to swim through the caves and see plenty of different types of cool fish. It was an experience that was nothing like I’ve ever done before.

My least favorite part of the trip was when we went to a local restaurant filled with tourists. The food wasn’t very good, and there was a mariachi band that was playing, which made it very hard to talk to others.

    The Mayan Ruins

My family did sightseeing at the Mayan Ruins that stand from hundreds of years ago. It was fascinating to see the history behind where we were visiting, and I learned a lot.

My favorite activity was paddleboarding in the ocean. We could rent paddleboards and other boats, such as kayaks, and go out to boat.

My least favorite activity was when we went deep-sea fishing. Although my family and I usually really love fishing, this experience was not enjoyable. It started well; the men in charge of the boat were real fishermen, and it seemed like the trip was going to be a memorable, fun trip. However, while boating out to the spot where we were going to fish, we could tell that the water was very choppy, but we were hoping it would smooth out. It didn’t! Once we got to the place where all the fish were, we started fishing for about 15 minutes, until finally, the first person in my family started to feel sick from the choppy waves. From there, everyone started feeling very seasick. My sister threw up over the side of the boat, and we ended up having to go back to shore 2 hours early.

    The Nizuc Hotel

My favorite restaurant was at my hotel, the Nizuc. Although the food at restaurants outside of the hotel was delicious, the hotel restaurant’s food was amazing. I loved the hotel I was staying at. The Nizuc was one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. It was a huge property and had the nicest facilities. There were many different buildings, rather than just one hotel building, and there were golf carts to take you from place to place. The staff was extremely nice, and everything from the pools to the beach to the tennis courts was very nice.

I learned a lot about how the Mayans settled in Mexico and how their civilization ran during my Mayan Ruins tour. I would give this trip a thumbs up. It was super fun and incorporated lots of different activities. I was never once bored, and I would highly recommend this vacation to everyone.
